Hypothetical and backtested results
Backtests and simulations are hypothetical. They benefit from hindsight, may not reflect real-time decision-making and cannot fully model liquidity, market impact, queue position, rejected orders, partial fills, changing margins, slippage, commissions, outages or the psychological effects of loss. A result that appears stable historically may fail immediately in live trading.
Data and implementation risk
Missing bars, incorrect sessions, contract rolls, price scaling, point values, exchange changes, rounding, timezone differences and platform settings can materially alter results. EasyLanguage exports and TradeStation reports must be independently compiled, checked and compared before use. Software defects can remain despite testing.
Selection and overfitting risk
Repeatedly testing conditions, filters, parameters or date ranges increases the chance of selecting noise. “Stable,” “qualified,” “eligible” and similar interface labels describe defined historical tests only. They do not establish causation, persistence or future profitability. “No filter qualified” and abandoning a candidate are valid research outcomes.
Your responsibility
You alone decide whether and how to use EdgeLab outputs. Use independent verification, realistic costs, appropriate position sizing and risk limits, and consider professional advice. Never trade capital you cannot afford to lose. EdgeLab does not monitor brokerage accounts, control orders or prevent losses.
